SOIL REPLACEMENT IN POTS

Replacements are often made to change the atmosphere and to feel a difference in your life. When it comes to the soil replacement in pots and lawn, though it is very rare still it depends on various circumstances. Mostly soil needs not to replace in pots after so many years. Pot soil somehow drains out with water through holes and need to add more, as and when required. Therefore,

it is needless to change pot soil until it shows continuous disease or fungal properties showing at its surface.

There is one more vital sign for the weakness of soil, observe the growth of your plant. If it is in a steady position and the recent growth is accordance to previous growth, then it is ok. But if it is not flourishing and appearing in a dull position you should firstly, provide it with nutrient matter like fertilizer. If it heals properly, let it grow but still it is not up to the mark then you need to replace its soil at the earliest.

At this stage, do not remove all soil around the plant, do it in different phases. Starting from the surface, dig a small amount with care, avoid damaging the roots; add the nutrient material or soil. If the problem resolves, then it is enough. If the problem stays then deepen the dig by avoiding damage to roots of plants and replace the soil.

Another way is replacing the container or pots, fill the new container with enough planting material. Now, carefully pot out the plant and remove the excess soil around the roots. Put in the new container or pot and press the soil all around thoroughly. Finally, give the container/pot soft taps for two to three time, so that, the soil settles down well.

WHEN TO REPLACE SOIL IN LAWNS?

In the lawn, there is no need to change the soil. At the beginning, you should take care of basics. When you are planning a new lawn, dig the lawn area up to 2 feet down and throw this soil out. There may be hard stones, concrete waste, pebbles and other harmful weeds in it. They can become troublesome for delicate seedlings and do not allow roots to go deep. So, it is safe to get rid of them all, throw it out and fill a new mixture of nutrient matter in it. Loamy soil is a good suggestion; a mixture of soils is another advice, the readymade matter for the lawn is also a good idea and ideally, the mixture of peat, compost, and vermiculite is the easiest way to good growth.  Spray organic pesticides to avoid loss in your little lovely garden.
