COMPOSTING

COMPOSTING

WHAT IS COMPOSTING?

 Composting
It is a crumble form of many natural ingredients and also called natural breakdown of organic material. It finally comes in a crumbly form with a sweet smell that is full of nutrient for all types of plants. As compared to chemical fertilizers, this organic matter is much better medium to plant growth. It contains no harmful or intense chemicals. By using this medium,
you will get a better yield of your plants and lush green garden in your house.

Generally, the natural ingredients that are used to make compost are called waste in routine. In actual life, we throw these waste items away in garbage bins but they can be used in kitchen garden for better results. You can use kitchen waste such as peel of vegetables and fruits, coffee grind, egg shells, stained leaves of tea, dry leaves, hay, grass clipping, green waste, newspaper pieces, dry stems, ash, cotton seeds, cow dung, dry leaves, other herbivore manure, animal blood and crab meal for composting. Compost can be mixed with all soil types for best results.

Composting is easy to start but it is a quite lengthy procedure. All natural materials require enough time to break down and transform into beneficial material for plants. With little management, we can accelerate the process.

HOW TO ACCELERATE THE COMPOSTING PROCEDURE?

Normally, composting is a lengthy procedure that takes about 8-10 months to complete in normal temperature. In winters, this procedure slows down further. There is a little trick involved in it to accelerate the composting procedure.
  • Add all waste material in little and shredded pieces.
  • Cut the peels into small parts
  • Crush the eggshells
  • Cut the newspapers into very tiny pieces
  • Rotate the pile after every 3 to 4 days for proper air
  • Do not let it dry or too wet
  • Cover the pile or bin for good results
These are some little steps that can save months. All you need is a little care and effort.
